HISTORY OF SAC


Sycamore Athletic Club
Timeline

1953                Bill Sherritt forms the first organized football team in Sycamore, the Jets,
                       for 11 & 12 year olds; sponsored by Hague Realtors; played in
                       Buckeye Bantam League.

1963                Sycamore Athletic Club is formed with first President Ross Bachman;
                       two teams were established,
Sycamore Jets (11 & 12) and
Sycamore Darts
                       (younger kids); teams sponsored by Scherzinger Pest Control, tee shirts
                       read “stop ze bugs”.

1964                Sycamore Rockets were formed for 10 year old boys with Head Coach
                       Reggie Bradford.

1965                Sycamore Sparks were formed for 9 year old boys with Head Coach Bill 
                       Macke; Sycamore Darts
win the League Championship.

1971                Program attracts over 200 boys; teams become Jets (13 year olds),
                       Comets (12 year olds), Darts (11 year olds), Rockets (10 year olds) and
                       Sparks
(9 years old)

1972                Girls Softball program formed; Basketball added to the SAC program initiated
                       by Bruce Pavlech.

1974                Sycamore Suns formed for boys 6 – 8 years old with Head Coach JD Clarke.

1978                Organized Cheerleading Program established.

1980                Sycamore Jets program dropped due to establishment of the Junior High
                       football program.

1981                SAC joins Northern Cincinnati Athletic League (NCAL).

1984                SAC leaves the NCAL; joins the Buckeye League.

1990                Sycamore Aviators Youth Football Program is established as a recreational
                       venue; SAC remains the competitive organization.

1993                SAC leaves the Buckeye League; joins the newly formed Southern Ohio
                       Youth Football Association, Inc.  (SOYFAI).

1996                SAC drops the different individual team names and establishes the “Stealth” 
                       name for all age groups; logo to be the Stealth Bomber.

1996                SAC drops the team name of “Stealth”, and establishes the “Comets”.

1996                SAC organization splits SAC Football & Cheerleading away from SAC
                       Basketball.
